Hey I'm Bora! I’m chaser of light and all things sand, salt, and sea. Laughter has created the dimples underneath my eyes while dancing through life moves my soul. My passion for photography comes from the need to tell a story. I love all things people. I love the electricity in the way two people who are in love look at each other. A close friend once told me that if she ever needed to find me anywhere, she’d just follow the sound of my laughter. There are no truer words... as I’ve heard other people who know me well say the same thing.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WEDDING MEMORY SO FAR?
Narrowing this down is soooo hard because there are so many! My most favorite moment was photographing the groom and the groomsmen and when I was taking kind of serious shots of the groom, the groomsmen decided they wanted to have a pillow fight in the background. This turned into some epic photographs and I'm so glad they decided to do that so spontaneously. Weddings should be fun and not so serious all the time!
WHAT FICTIONAL CHARACTER DO YOU MOST IDENTIFY WITH?
Without a doubt, Nancy Drew! I've read all the books since I was very young (avid reader) and have followed all of her adventures! Not only does she travel to some pretty cool and exotic places but she's fierce and intelligent as well. She's my inspiration for all future travel plans.
WHAT IF I TOLD YOU THAT YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE RIGHT NOW?
The Mentawais! A surfer's dream and photographer's paradise all in one place. To be able to surf a-frame best of the world's waves in clear blue tropical waters and photograph beautiful things in and out of the water equals heaven. I'm not sure anything else could top it.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL HANGOUTS?
Banzai Bowl in Huntington Beach. I'm always in search of the perfect acai bowl and this is hands down one of the best. Seafood also has my heart and the clams linguini at Fishbar in Manhattan Beach is my secret spot...shhh don't tell anyone!
what is your idea of perfect happiness?
Perfect happiness is a tropical locale with all my favorite people because how can it be so perfect unless you have the people you love the most to share it with. That tropical locale also has perfect waves and is the perfect temperature in and out of the water, no wetsuits needed. Add in amazing food and life could not get any better.
Go-tos
MUSIC
Besides deep conversations, at the core of it all is music. From reggae to country to pop, I love it all and cannot imagine a world without it. It brings together love, connection and transcends all boundaries regardless of language barriers.
My SON
That's my special human, nick-named Odin-wan-kenobi. We go on at least one adventure every year and he's the best traveler. He's the heart that's living out of my chest and I wouldn't have it any other way.
SURFING
As passionate as I am about photography, my second passion is surfing. It takes me everywhere and that feeling of going on the ultimate wave is a high like no other. I am determined to take at least one surf trip a year internationally.
GOOD EATS
Favorite thing besides music...it has to be good food. Churros and coffee has to top it all. After photographing amazing weddings, I'll happily hunt out a good food cart in Los Angeles and I'll be content for the rest of the week. Good food will do that.
TRAVEL
Traveling solo is one of the best feelings in the world. It is the most liberating and scariest feeling in the world but once you've done it, you'll be richer in more ways than one.
Oh yeah... did I say I like surfing?! I meant, I love it! If I'm not behind the camera or spending time with my son, the ocean is where I will be chasing that perfect wave.
